What's involved when mounting a AV shelf?

Before being installed, the majority of shelving systems require assembly, which, depending on the shelf, can occasionally be a laborious operation. Along with mounting the shelf to the wall, we can also offer this service. When everything is put together, check to see that you've located the intersection of two studs in the wall you're attaching on. Use a toggle bolt if you can't access a stud on one side. We don't advise building the shelf there if you can't reach a stud on either side since it can become dangerous if too much weight is placed on top while a person or a pet is below (think kids playing on furniture). Before mounting the shelf to the wall, check that the holes between the two studs are level.

Can wires be hidden when using an AV shelf

Yes. A single gang outlet box is carved into the wall, and a paintable faceplate with a recessed cable guide is then fastened. This gives the work a polished, professional appearance. You feed the wires between the two places, with the other cut-in box going behind the TV. There may not always be a power outlet behind your TV, therefore you may need to pull the power cord for your gadgets out of the wall near the floor. Additionally, a soundbar can be put above the shelf.

Do AV shelfs help?

When you need to plug something into your wall-mounted TV but don't want to take up any floor space with a piece of furniture, we think AV shelves can be rather beneficial (usually the reason for mounting the TV to begin with).  If you aren't going to be using a cable box, game system, or DVD player then you might not need a shelf at all.
